Beginning May 9th, José will begin offering Bilingual Children & Family Counseling Services for children ages 3 to 13 years old. The rate for clinical and counseling services is $120/hour. Sliding scale will be offered to Medicaid recipients for $60/hour.
In Summer 2025, José will be a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania.

Perez Therapy's mission to support child development is led by José D. Lebrón, MEd, Child Development Specialist.
José holds a Masters of Education in School Psychology from Temple University, with a Specialization in Counseling. Prior to graduate studies, Jose was a preschool teacher and early childhood education educator with Early Childhood Environments, Bilingual Early Education, as a bilingual preschool teacher. There he used innovative and engaging methods to engage children after the effects of the pandemic into learning and making up lost social and emotional skills.
José has worked an autistic support specialist, and holds a Bachelor's of Arts in Philosophy and Religious Studies with a concentration in Abrahamic Religions from SUNY University of Albany. He subsequently earned a teaching assistant certificate from Hudson Valley Community College.
José currently provides Consultation Services, and starting Summer 2025, José will begin offering Counseling Services and Intellectual and Educational Evaluations. He will become a certified Education Specialist in Pennsylvania, and this August, José begins work as a School Psychologist for the School District of Philadelphia. He received additional training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

José conducts comprehensive observations of parent-child interactions to identify strengths and areas for improvement. Following the assessment, he provides tailored recommendations to enhance communication and strengthen the parent-child bond.

Recognizing the importance of cultural and linguistic relevance, all our services are offered in both English and Spanish. This ensures that language is not a barrier to accessing quality support.
Upcoming Services
Starting Summer 2025, we will expand our offerings to include Counseling Services and Intellectual and Educational Evaluations. José will also be certified as an Education Specialist in Pennsylvania and will commence his role as a School Psychologist for the School District of Philadelphia in August.

Child Development Services for Educators
At Perez Therapy, we recognize that educators play a vital role in supporting the developmental, emotional, and behavioral growth of children. As part of our Child Development Services, we offer a dedicated service line for teachers, school administrators, early childhood educators, and professionals in educational settings.
Led by José D. Lebrón, MEd — a bilingual Child Development Specialist with extensive experience in schools — these services are designed to empower educators with practical tools and professional guidance.
🧠 Developmental & Behavioral Consultations
We offer individual or team-based consultations to help educators address classroom concerns related to developmental delays, behavior, or social-emotional needs. Our approach centers evidence-informed strategies that are developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive.
📋 Classroom Observations & Recommendations
Through in-person or virtual observations, José provides personalized feedback and strategies to improve classroom dynamics, student engagement, and inclusive teaching practices.

Interactive workshops are available for schools, early learning centers, and organizations. Topics include:

🌐 Bilingual & Culturally Responsive Services

🏫 School Partnerships & Program Support
We partner with schools and organizations to design and support child development programs, provide developmental screenings, or consult on curriculum planning. Services are available on a one-time or ongoing basis.
Support Children’s Mental Health: Recognize LAPCs Under PA Medicaid HealthChoices
Perez Therapy, LLC is actively advocating for community and policy support to allow Licensed Associate Professional Counselors (LAPCs) to serve as independent providers within our Medicaid group practice in Pennsylvania. Current state limitations prevent LAPCs—such as M.Ed. School Psychologists trained in counseling—from independently providing care to Medicaid recipients through Community Behavioral Health (CBH).
This restriction creates a gap in care for children who are in critical developmental stages and often in need of specialized, culturally competent, and bilingual services. By allowing LAPCs to provide Medicaid-covered care under appropriate supervision, we can expand access to individual therapy, group counseling, summer social-emotional skills programs, and family collateral services.
Expanding provider eligibility would improve timely access to care and help address the shortage of mental health professionals available to serve young children and families in our community.
