Do you find yourself in the same situation over and over again despite wanting to change?
Sometimes we can’t move on from an unsatisfying pattern of behaving or relating because
something from our past is getting in the way. We often can’t see the contradictory or unexpected connections between things on our own, so my role as your therapist is to listen for repetitions and parallels in your life. Together, we can name and move through what has you feeling stuck, powerless, and exhausted.
Psychotherapy can’t solve the immense social problems we face today, but it can change your relationship to yourself and the world, promoting feelings of dignity, creativity, and freedom. In my practice, a non-judgmental approach means that I invite anything that crosses your mind, even if it seems scary, irrelevant, or confusing. Memories, dreams, and mistakes are all messages we will use to find and encourage your unique way forward.
I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining Perez Therapy my clinical work was with justice-impacted individuals contending with anxiety, depression, trauma, and psychosis. Systems including mental health treatment have stigmatized experiences like relational violence and addiction, but I enjoy bringing an innovative, trauma-informed approach to such concerns. My practice is rooted in social justice, harm reduction, and psychoanalysis.
